Strive at all cost to Win

Business professors Gary Hamel and C. K. Prahalad wrote about an experiment conducted with a group of monkeys. Four monkeys were placed in a room that had a tall pole in the center. Suspended from the top of that pole was a bunch of bananas.
One of the hungry monkeys started climbing the pole to get something to eat, but just as he reached out to grab a banana, he was doused with a torrent of cold water. Squealing, he scampered down the pole and abandoned his attempt to feed himself. Each monkey made a similar attempt, and each one was drenched with cold water. After making several attempts, they finally gave up.
Then researchers removed one of the monkeys from the room and replaced him with a new monkey. As the newcomer began to climb the pole, the other three grabbed him and pulled him down to the ground. After trying to climb the pole several times and being dragged down by the others, he finally gave up and never attempted to climb the pole again.
The researchers replaced the original monkeys, one by one, with new ones, and each time a new monkey was brought in, he would be dragged down by the others before he could reach the bananas. In time, only monkeys who had never received a cold shower were in the room, but none of them would climb the pole. They prevented one another from climbing, but none of them knew why.
     On Sunday, pastor preached about Leading on the Inside, basically learning how to be self disciplined. It makes a lot of sense to me as if you have no ability to discipline yourself, its impossible to lead or discipline others.
Of all the things he taught, the one that stood out to me the most was that we must 'challenge our excuses'.
Assume for instance that your excuse(s) is a person, and whenever it comes around simply ask 'why?' Your excuse must be unique enough and to withhold you from being great.
Questions excuses that stop you from completing diets, going to the gym, reading your bibles and Praying.
In my opinion, excuses are pitiful stories, phrases, and lies, that only deceive you and get you nowhere.

WORD OF THE WEEK!!!
ISAIAH 43:1-3:
 1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
      And He who formed you, O Israel:

      “ Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
      I have called you by your name;
      You are Mine.
       2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
      And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
      When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
      Nor shall the flame scorch you.
       3 For I am the LORD your God,
      The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Twists and Turns part 1

Shaney and Temar had been friends for over seven years and in all the time I had known them, I'd never seen them argue like they did on this particular day.
I would never forget today. It started out bright and sunny, but then gloomed up and began to rain like there was no tomorrow and what started as a little joke, quickly flared up into name calling, slap dashing and hair tugging tussle.
I didnt know whether or not to step in, as they were friends before they met me, and would be after we move out.
Temar stared coldly at the floor where her new extensions lay pitifully.
Ok, I admit it, I wanted to laugh, I mean, imagine if you will, two grown women, one bald, the other half naked, fighting over 'who knows and who cares'!
"All I know, is that I never want to see you again!" Temar said in an almost inaudible sigh.
i could feel Shaney's eyes bore through my back, I  tried to side step them and go to my room, but Temar stood in my way.
"Not so quick, you have a huge part in this."
Temar eyed me slowly, slowly folding her arms over her chest....
